| November 06, 2005 | | Making money at Christmas time is always great | Review...
We've made a little money off of the catalog merchandise around every Christmas. People love to use catalogs for Christmas gifts so they don't have to go from store to store. For myself, I find very, very little I like in the catalogs. When I do I feel the merchandise is only worth the white price. The retail prices are out of line with reality. Maybe people pay those prices for o.k. stuff in the North where wages are higher, but down in the South, we are more poor. The only way the merchandise moves is for us to pay freight and deliver the merchandise to people we work with. It is impossible to sell the things at flea markets (the rent eats the profits for the day). We finally gave up and some stuff is in a consignment shop just to get our money out of stuff we bought to sell at the flea market. Another guy there sells at the white price and undercuts everybody. So now he's a Super Seller but has made no profits. Can you figure that one out? Oh well, I just hope we get some money from the shop our stuff is in. | | |
