| January 12, 2008 | | Employee of Merle Norman Cosmetics explains great opportunity | | Review...
I have worked for Merle Norman for 4 years, for 2 studios in which a family member owns. We have had 1 studio for 20 years and the other for almost 1. Merle Norman can be a very good franchise to get into, if you are a smart business owner. It is best however to purchase an existing studio or open one in a large city with no other good studio around. It is not something you want to open in a rural or small town. You have to keep overhead low and pay employees minimum wage and raise higher commissions. It is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work in their business. You make about 55% profit on all Merle Norman products plus you can sell accessories and ladies stuff. For someone to say that it is not successful means that they weren't in the right area and were not good business people. You have to love what you do to be in this business not just love money. Most of the larger stores like strip centers or such make just under $200,000 per year gross. Malls make more but also have more headaches. There are a lot of small, old studios that barely stay above water but that is because they are not renovated, do little advertising and have 60+ year old people running them. If you want something to call your own and are willing to work and enjoy serving people this is the business for you. | | |
