The Pampered Chef was established in the US, Canada, UK, and Germany before and not after it was sold to Berkshire/Hathaway in 2002. Two years previous to the sale, the company launched in the UK.

Doris Christopher's family was not interested in running the business should she retire, so she set up a succession plan to keep the company viable and stable via Berkshire/Hathaway. This company allows the original company to manage as they have done successfully in the past. The company has been selling about 730 million dollars annually for some time, but wants to grow to a billion and more. Warren Buffett is only interested in buying debt free, financially stable companies for the long term. He wants "winners."

In terms of "network marketing", "direct selling", "party plan" business, Pampered Chef has ALWAYS been a "party plan" "direct selling" "network marketing" business. Doris Christopher started the business in 1980 and then joined the DSA (Direct Selling Association in 1986). When a customer asked Doris could she join her company and sell, too, then The Pampered Chef became a "direct selling" "network marketing" business.

In terms of network marketing/party plan, Pampered Chef keeps up with the best of network marketing/party plan companies because it is retail based and not greed based. If a network marketing plan is missing a party plan (serve the customer component), then that company may close due to the greed factor/versus serve the customer and develop a viable business factor.

Directors do not get any percentage of money from signing up a consultant to do Pampered Chef. Rather, they get paid for training and supporting consultants and helping them be successful in business. If Directors are not providing support and sign and go, then they may be reported to the company. To be a Director with The Pampered Chef, there are certain responsibilities. Directors get paid for playing a supportive role.
