I have read many books on money and personal finance and I have to say that I am more excited about Dave Ramsey's program than any before it. It has changed our lives and I see it change so many peoples lives everyday!
We have paid off $12,500 since we started our Total Money Makeover! We have saved $2500 and that only took us a few months after actually doing a budget for the first time ever. We will be debt free but the house by August of 2008 and it FEELS GREAT!
Anyone that has a problem with Dave Ramsey usually falls into three categories:
1) They do not like him because his advice that helps people from getting taken advantage of, possibly hurts their ability to rip people off effectively. (Insurance companies, mortgage lenders, credit card companies , and any of the rip off loan sharks like rent to own or paycheck loan companies!)
2) They were looking for a get rich quick program, or
3) They just have no desire to change their financial patterns and by dissing Dave Ramsey they make themselves feel better about their decision.
Dave Ramsey has proven his financial plan to me as well as countless others. For anyone who is interested changing their financial future like so many others, you should go buy the book or audio book of The Total Money Makeover. For the price of a book you will learn that all the naysayers are just plain wrong about this guy.
When I didn't do the program it didn't work, but when I decided to follow it the way it is presented, it worked and continues to enrich our lives as well as our future. Our kids will not know what living paycheck to paycheck is like, thanks to Dave Ramsey!
Dave Ramsey is also one of the most generous givers on a day to day basis. He gives free Financial Peace University classes, free books, free seats to his events, and even free books from other authors like Dan Miller who wrote 48 Days to the Work you Love!
